Volunteer Dates Through September and Some Great Garden Progress

Last Friday, August 25th, John McMurray offered his equipment and time to finally move our big pile of boulders that were donated earlier this summer.  Thanks, John!  They look great now surrounding the Garden's Meditation Area.  John also moved the mulch pile to a more convenient "ready-to-spread" location.   No matter how you look at it, it's well worth a trip to the site to see our progress.

This Thursday, August 31, we'll be meeting volunteers at the site (8112 Paseo from 5:30 to 7PM) with the following tasks in mind:
  • Spread cardboard and mulch over the remaining turf;
  • Stain and weatherize the picnic table (thanks for the donation, Dale and Michelle);
  • Stain and weatherize the interior of the compost bins;
  • Prune and cut two pathways into the Highland Ave side of the garden;
  • Perennial grasses and ground covers are also ready-to-plant.
We will have tools and supplies for all of the projects listed.  Volunteers should bring their own gloves.  And, corrugated cardboard and grass clippings for the compost piles is always appreciated.

If you can't join us this Thursday, we'll be working the same hours every Thursday in September.  That's September 7, 14, 21 and 28!
